Out of the Mouth of Babes
John made it through Father's Day well. You never know which days are going to get you... But today was harder. This evening John picked up a picture of Ellie and said "I just wanted to hold her today. I want to pick her up and hug her the way that I do with Ethan." As John held the picture, tears streamed down his face. At that point Ethan walked in and the conversation went something like this:
Ethan: What are you doing?
John: Looking at this picture of Ellie.
Ethan: What's that on your face?
John: Tears.
Ethan: Why?
John: I love Ellie so much and I just miss her.
Ethan: I miss her too! Do I have tears coming out of my eyes?
John: No, Buddy.
Ethan: I have invisible tears.
Invisible tears. He put into words what my heart often feels. There's not always tears on my face, but so much of the time I have invisible tears. Tears of the heart, and not of the eyes.

I thought of John on Saturday night, and how hard Sunday would be.
Still praying....

I am often amazed at how God speaks through children. Your family is so blessed that as the Lord gives words to describe the most secret of feelings. This is not a place I know tyou or your family wants to be in, but your words speak to our hearts and on some days I say WOW! On those days I say "Lord that is exactly how I feel!" So thank you for Godly Words of the heart and hug Ethan for all of us that are blesssed and moved by his wisdom.

WE CONTINUE TO KEEP YOU IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS EACH AND EVERY DAY. YOU ARE ALL SUCH A BLESSING AND WE PRAY FOR CONTINUING STRENGTH AND COMFORT EACH DAY. WITH LOVE SIMONS FAMILY
How insightful is that little boy of yours?! Invisible tears... never heard them called that before but that is the most perfect description of what so many of us experience for various reasons.
Doesn't Ethan come out with just the right words! Sarah, I wanted to right you today. I just watched the memorial for Tim Russert and at the end of the service they played "Ellie's" Over the Rainbow song!! How awesome was that. So many tragic deaths recently of Maria Chapman and Tim Russert - and of Eliie - all people of faith home with the Lord. I felt as if Ellie was saying "Yep, Mr. Russert is here."
That is always Ellie's song to me now. Blessings. Gerry
What a dear, sweet boy! He is a real thinker isn't he? God has gifted you with him, knowing that you would need his "special" insights to things....
God bless you all.
Ethan is so expressive - I thought of John also on Father's Day -how blessed you are to have one another. How blessed we are for you to share with us - invisible tears will no doubt become part of your readers' emotional vocabulary - way to go Duma -
Sarah, bless your heart. John was on my heart much of the day on Sunday. Invisible tears...what a perfect description. God bless you all, Sheri

We really enjoyed the time with you yesterday. What wonderful fellowship, what a great family. We don't know your pain but know it is deep. Our Father knows it and cares ... we pray you will feel His presence and mercy today.
