Chemo round 5 is complete!

It is lunchtime and we are still in the hospital as I write this. Ellie finished chemo over 24 hours ago. We were set to go home this morning once all of her post-hydration was finished, but last night Ellie started throwing up. She had thrown up once the night before...on day three, which happened last time she had these drugs, but last night she threw up three times in a row. This morning as soon as Ellie got out of bed, she threw up again...and again a half hour later. So...here we sit. She's finally eating something and if she shows signs of keeping the nausea under control enough to keep some food and liquids down, then we will be on our way home. Despite all of that ickiness, I would have to say that I'm still pleased with how strong Ellie has been this round. I know that sounds like a contradiction, but overall her coloring has been better than usual and her spirits have been mostly up. The last two days she took long naps, and after waking up from one, she had a sleepy little smile on her face. John asked why she was smiling and she said "lots of things".

OK, here's the highlights of chemo round 5:

Dear Ellie,
I've been praying for you after I received your prayer card at my church. I decided to visit this page to see how things were. And I just wanted to say that you're a beautiful and strong girl for your age battling such a horrible disease. I know that God is Soveign and will take care of you. I could never imagine having to battle cancer. I know I could never fully appreciate life they way you do. What I can say is everytime you're hurting or down just remember that God is carrying you...He is always there.

"He will never leave you nor forsake you." -Deuteronomy 31:6

In Christ,
Cory Carlson

You are beautiful Ellie! Alexa says, "But Mommy, How come Ellie is always smiling when she is so sick?" We love the pictures. Thank you for sharing them with us. Sleep well tonight,
Kristina

Glad you're starting to keep that food down, Ellie. Nutrition is so important!
The animal show looked like fun. :) We inherited a white rabbit from some missionaries going home on furlough once. His name was Casper. We let him run around in our yard because our yard was surrounded by a block wall. He liked all that freedom. :)
We're praying for you over here in Thailand!
Love to you from us,
Beth, Hal, Riley and Jane

Glad to see you made it through round 5 Ellie!!! Feel better so you can go home and sleep in your own bed (our own beds are always so nice). Many blessings and prayers!

Isn't it amazing how much of an "expert" we become on our children? What a asset you are to all those nurses and doctors - to be able to tell them of your close observations and aide in this process. I'm sure they rely on you more than you know!

Praising God round 5 is OVER. Praising God for all the people who take the time to come to a hospital with rabbits and costumes to brighten a little girl's day.
